Yarrabilba to become one of Queensland Government’s first “model cities”

Delfin Lend Lease has welcomed the Queensland Government’s decision to progress the proposed multi-billion dollar Yarrabilba community in south-east Queensland as one of the state’s first “model cities” facilitated by the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA).

Yarrabilba will eventually cover 2,014 hectares and have an expected population of more than 50,000 people.

Delfin Lend Lease Project Director Rob Moore said there were many synergies between Delfin Lend Lease and the ULDA’s approach to planning new communities and he looked forward to progressing Yarrabilba.

“Delfin Lend Lease’s vision for Yarrabilba is to create a new community that meets the needs of the local area, while establishing new benchmarks in affordable housing, sustainability, and jobs creation. Today’s announcement is an important step to realising this.

“The ULDA has a good record of facilitating and fast tracking the delivery of important projects, identifying solutions and working to achieve the right outcomes for a project. We look forward to working with the ULDA to commence Yarrabilba as quickly as possible.

“We also remain committed to continuing the existing partnerships established with all stakeholders, including the Logan City Council and Queensland Government, to ensure the best outcomes for this community.

“Yarrabilba is being designed to be a community for the region, providing state-of-the-art facilities for a city of more than 50,000 people.”

Mr Moore said Delfin was ready to assist the ULDA where needed, having already completed detailed studies and master planning for the proposed community.

“Working in partnership with the ULDA and other key stakeholders, we look forward to creating a vibrant and fully-serviced community with a town centre, quality homes, primary and secondary schools, connected green spaces, community and recreational facilities, strong public transport links, and a growing economy creating local jobs and prosperity,” he said.

“Yarrabilba will also make an important contribution towards addressing the region’s land supply needs by delivering substantial land releases over the coming years.”

Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s largest developer of masterplanned communities with 25 projects across the country. In Queensland, it has developed award-winning communities such as Springfield Lakes, Varsity Lakes and Forest Lake.
