Beaudesert residents will get a sneak peak at what is planned for the Yarrabilba Environmental Business Cluster being developed in the Beaudesert Shire at this week’s Eco Expo 2007.
To be developed by Delfin Lend Lease at the proposed masterplanned community of Yarrabilba, the Environmental Business Cluster will be a major business precinct catering to companies producing environmentally sustainable products, as well as office-based research and consulting groups.
The Yarrabilba Environmental Business Cluster will have a stand at the Eco Expo, being staged on 25 and 26 May at the Beaudesert Showgrounds.
Three of the founding strategic alliance partners for the Cluster, including Chromagen, Hills Limited and Bluescope Water, will be in attendance with Delfin at the Eco Expo.
Delfin Lend Lease Project Director – Major Projects (SEQ) Paul Eagles said the Environmental Business Cluster formed a key component of the Beaudesert Shire Council’s Economic Development Strategy for future job creation and growth.
“The environmental goods and services industry is an industry experiencing exponential growth and this world-first Cluster provides the opportunity for the Beaudesert Shire to take a leadership role in this industry,” he said.
Mr Eagles said several leading national and international companies involved in environmental services have already expressed interest in establishing operations at Yarrabilba.
He said these companies were from industries ranging from solar energy, to water technology, sustainable white goods and alternative fuel companies.
“We have been thrilled with the response from businesses, specialising in environmentally-sustainable goods and services, who are interested in locating their head office, manufacturing, distribution or sales facilities at the Yarrabilba Environmental Business Cluster,” he said.
“Companies involved in the Environmental Business Cluster will be able to display their products, develop manufacturing, warehousing and distribution facilities, obtain commercial space and establish research facilities.
“Creating a unique business precinct is also predicted to bolster youth training and jobs for locals by providing long-term career opportunities.
“Experts in the field argue that the high level of fragmentation in the industry is limiting its profile and growth and that a central hub would act as a catalyst for the growth of the environmental goods and services industry both in Queensland and Australia.”
Delfin is currently working with the Queensland Government and Beaudesert Shire Council for the timely approval of Yarrabilba to ensure the Environmental Business Cluster becomes a reality in the near future.
The proposed Yarrabilba community is situated on a 2,014-hectare site in the Beaudesert Shire. To be developed over a 30 year period, upon completion the community is expected to be home to 52,000 residents in 23,000 homes on 19,000 allotments.
Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s largest developer of masterplanned communities with more than 20 projects across eight key population centres throughout Australia.
